Diamonds

Christie Grace offers conflict-free Canadian diamonds, known to be acquired through high-standard mining practices with strict adherence to ethical and environmental guidelines and fair labour. In the last twenty years, Canada has become the world's third largest diamond supplier, producing approximately 15% of the world's diamonds. Along with the other diamond producing countries, Canada follows the Kimberley Process and has taken a strong leadership role in the diamond industry ensuring their diamonds are produced with integrity. Canadian diamonds purchased from Christie Grace will be accompanied by a Canadian diamond certificate that states the cut of the diamond, the rough weight, and the polished weight, as well as the Canadian diamond certification number. The Diamonds
Diamond cutters spent years perfecting the round brilliant cut shape and it is the specific measurements that give the flash of the diamond. The Ideal or Triple Excellent cut has the perfect dimensions, produces the maximum brilliance, and is the best cut attainable. The grades decrease from there to an Excellent, Very Good and a Good cut. The minimum cut grade Christie Grace carries is a Very Good cut which still maintains good brilliancy.

The Colour
The colour scale of diamonds ranges from D, which is colourless, to K, which has a yellow colour. Christie Grace recommends staying in the D-G colour range for the best colour.

The Clarity
The top range of clarity is Flawless and Internally Flawless, which are very rare. VVS1, VVS2 are the next step down in clarity and continuing to VS1, VS2, SI1, SI2 and SI3/I1. The minimum clarity Christie Grace carries SI1 as anything lower than this has eye-visible inclusions impeding the look of the stone.

The Carat Weight
“Carat” denotes the weight of a diamond. One carat equals 0.20 grams. Taken by itself, carat weight does not determine a diamond’s value. For example, two one-carat stones can vary widely in price when clarity, color, cut and presence are taken into consideration.
